What You’ll Need Before You Begin:
- A smartphone with the Alarm.com app installed
- Your home Wi-Fi name and password
- The Doorbell Camera already mounted on the wall (wired to power)
- A strong Wi-Fi signal at your front door (2.4 GHz preferred)
Step 1: Check the LED Light on the Doorbell
After installation and powering up:
- Look at the circular LED on the front of the doorbell camera
- It should be flashing Red/Green — this means it’s in Pairing Mode and ready to sync
If the LED is solid red or off:
Hold down the main button for about 80 seconds until the light flashes red/green again. This resets it into pairing mode.
Step 2: Open the Alarm.com App
- Launch the Alarm.com app
- Log into your existing account (or create one if this is your first time)
- Tap the ☰ Menu icon in the top left corner
- Select Video → Doorbell Camera Settings
- Tap Add Doorbell Camera
You’ll be prompted to give your doorbell a nickname (e.g., “Front Porch” or “Garage Entry”) to easily identify it later.
Step 3: Connect to the Doorbell’s Temporary Wi-Fi
For iPhone (iOS):
- Minimize the Alarm.com app (don’t close it completely)
- Go to your phone’s Settings → Wi-Fi
- Connect to a network that starts with SkyBellHD_########
- Wait for it to connect, then return to the Alarm.com app
For Android:
- You’ll stay inside the app
- It should automatically find and connect to the SkyBell network
- If it doesn’t, go to your phone’s Wi-Fi settings and select it manually
This is a temporary connection that allows the phone to send Wi-Fi info directly to the doorbell.
Step 4: Choose Your Home Wi-Fi and Enter Password
- The app will now display a list of available Wi-Fi networks
- Tap your home network (must be 2.4 GHz)
- Enter your Wi-Fi password correctly
- Tap Continue
Double-check your password — a typo is the most common cause of setup failure!
Step 5: Wait for the Sync to Complete
This part takes about 1–2 minutes. During this time:
- The LED will flash Double-Orange = Connecting to Wi-Fi
- Then flash Blue/Green = Syncing with Alarm.com servers
- Finally, it will turn Solid Green = Success! Your doorbell is now connected and active
If the light turns red again or stays on Orange for more than 2 minutes:
- The Wi-Fi password may be incorrect
- Your router may be out of range
- Start over by resetting the device (hold button for 80 seconds)
Final Confirmation
When the LED turns solid green, the app will confirm:
“Setup Complete” or “Device Added Successfully”
You’re now ready to use Live View, Two-Way Talk, and receive Motion Alerts directly through the app.
