This page will teach you the most important things you can do with your LTS DVR system — how to see your cameras, go back in time, save important moments, get alerts, and view footage from your phone. No tech experience needed — just simple instructions for everyday use.
What You Can Do With Your DVR (And How To Do It)
1. See What’s Happening Right Now (Live View)
What It Is: A real-time look at what your security cameras are seeing — like a live security control center.
How to Use Live View:
- Use the mouse and right-click anywhere on the main screen
- Click “Main Menu” and choose Live View
- You’ll see a split screen with multiple cameras (1, 4, 8, or 16 depending on your system)
- Double-click any camera window to make it full screen
- Right-click to return to the previous view or change the layout
Helpful Tips:
- You can customize your camera names (like “Front Door” or “Back Alley”) by going to the camera settings
- If a camera is dark or unclear, check if it has infrared/night vision or if the lens is clean
2. Watch Something That Already Happened (Playback)
What It Is: Lets you review past events, such as a package delivery or suspicious activity.
How to Use Playback:
- From the main screen, right-click → Main Menu → Playback
- On the left side, select the camera(s) you want to review
- Choose the date and time on the calendar
- Click Search — the timeline will populate with recorded video
- Click on a point in the timeline to begin playback
- Use controls below:
- ▶️ Play / Pause
- ⏩ Fast Forward
- ⏮ Rewind
- 📸 Snapshot
Helpful Tips:
- The timeline will be color-coded: green or yellow often indicates motion-triggered events
- Zoom in on the timeline to narrow down an exact moment
3. Save a Clip to a USB Drive (Backup)
What It Is: This is how you make a copy of a video clip for police, insurance, or personal records.
How to Save Video:
- Plug a USB flash drive into the USB port on your DVR (usually in the front)
- Go to Main Menu → Playback → Clip Export
- Select camera, date, and start/end times
- Choose Export
- Select the USB device and click Start Backup
File Formats: You may be prompted to choose between formats like AVI or proprietary formats — AVI is usually easiest for sharing.
Helpful Tips:
- Always test the clip on a computer to ensure it saved properly
- Label exported files with a date or camera location for easy organizing
4. View Cameras on Your Phone (LTS Connect App)
What It Is: Lets you check your cameras from anywhere in the world using your smartphone.
How to Set Up the App:
- Download “LTS Connect” from the App Store or Google Play
- Create an account with your email
- On your DVR screen, go to Main Menu → Network → Platform Access
- Enable P2P / Cloud Access and scan the QR code from the app
- Your DVR will connect — you’ll see your cameras in the app
What You Can Do in the App:
- Watch live footage from any camera
- Review past events
- Get motion alerts when activity is detected
- Take snapshots or save video directly to your phone
Helpful Tips:
- Use Wi-Fi on your phone for faster streaming
- Set push notifications only for specific cameras (e.g., front door)
5. Get Alerts When There’s Movement (Motion Detection)
What It Is: Your DVR can watch for movement in specific areas — and notify you or record only when there’s action.
How to Set Up Motion Detection:
- Go to Main Menu → Camera → Motion Detection
- Choose a camera
- Use your mouse to draw a box over the area to monitor (e.g., your porch, driveway)
- Adjust the sensitivity level (higher = detects even small movement)
- Enable “Notify,” “Buzzer,” or “Record” under the Actions tab
- Click Apply to save
Helpful Tips:
- Set up motion zones only where you expect activity (to avoid pets or trees causing alerts)
- You can customize settings for each camera individually
Smart Everyday Tips
- Name Your Cameras: It’s much easier to search for “Front Porch” than “Camera 03”
- Set the Time Correctly: Makes all your playback and alerts more accurate
- Don’t Worry About Overwriting: Your DVR auto-deletes old footage when storage is full
- Use the Mobile App: Most features are accessible on your phone, even while traveling
