Your 2GIG EDGE™ panel was designed to make security easy — whether you’re arming the system, checking alerts, or disarming with just your face. Here’s exactly how to use the most important features so you feel confident and secure.
1. Arming and Disarming the System
Your system has three modes: Arm Stay, Arm Away, and Disarm. Here’s what each one does and how to use it:
Arm Stay (For When You’re Home)
This mode secures all your doors and windows but leaves motion sensors OFF, so you can move around freely inside.
How to Arm Stay:
- Wake the screen (tap anywhere if it’s asleep).
- Tap the “Arm Stay” icon.
- If asked, enter your 4-digit code.
- You’ll hear a voice prompt and see a countdown.
- The system will say “Armed Stay” when active.
Use at night, during the day while working from home, or when relaxing inside.
Arm Away (For When You Leave)
This activates all sensors — including indoor motion detectors.
How to Arm Away:
- Tap the “Arm Away” icon on the screen.
- Enter your code (or use facial recognition if set up).
- Leave the house within the countdown time (typically 60 seconds).
- The panel will confirm with “Armed Away.”
Use when everyone is leaving the house for errands, work, or vacation.
Disarm (To Turn Off the System)
Use this when you’re coming home, waking up, or just want to deactivate the system.
Option 1: Disarm Manually
- Tap the “Disarm” button.
- Enter your 4-digit user code.
Option 2: Disarm with Facial Recognition
- Simply stand in front of the panel.
- It will scan your face.
- If recognized, it will disarm automatically and say “Welcome back.”
Great for busy mornings or when your hands are full.
2. Facial Recognition Disarming
Facial recognition lets you disarm the system without touching the screen.
To Set It Up:
- Tap the Settings (gear icon).
- Enter your master code.
- Tap Users, select your profile, then tap Facial Recognition.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to center your face and take photos.
Tips for Best Results:
- Stand 2–3 feet from the panel.
- Remove hats or sunglasses.
- Try to keep your face well-lit and centered.
Your face data stays on the panel and is never sent to the cloud.
3. Add Users & Access Codes
Each person who uses your system should have their own user code (and optionally facial recognition) so you can track who did what.
To Add a New User:
- Go to Settings > Users.
- Enter the master code.
- Tap Add User.
- Enter a name and choose a 4-digit PIN.
- Set permissions if needed (standard or limited).
- Enable facial recognition for that user if desired.
To Remove a User:
- Go to Settings > Users, tap the user, then select Delete.
Give unique codes to kids, family members, pet sitters, or cleaners.
4. Alerts, Alarms & Messages
The bell icon at the top of your screen tells you when something needs your attention.
Types of Notifications:
- Alerts: Low battery, power outages, Wi-Fi disconnects.
- Alarms: Triggered doors, windows, or motion sensors.
- Messages: Notes from your provider — some public, some private.
How to View Them:
- Tap the bell icon.
- Choose the tab (Alerts, Alarms, or Messages).
- Tap a message to read it.
To Dismiss:
- Tap Clear or Mark as Read.
Private messages may require your master code to open.
5. Emergency Buttons
If there’s a real emergency, your panel can alert the authorities right away.
How to Trigger an Emergency:
- Tap the red Emergency icon on the home screen.
- Choose:
- Police (Panic)
- Fire
- Medical
- Press and hold the button for 2 seconds to activate.
Your panel will contact your monitoring center immediately.
6. Using the Built-In Camera
Your panel takes photos automatically when:
- A user arms or disarms the system.
- Someone uses facial recognition.
- An alarm is triggered (based on settings).
To Review Photos (if enabled):
- Go to Camera or History (depending on your panel setup).
- Use the on-screen tools to browse photos and events.
Photos help you see who accessed the system and when.
7. Cleaning the Panel
To clean the screen safely:
- Tap Settings > Clean Screen.
- The panel will lock for 30 seconds, letting you wipe it without triggering anything.
Use a dry microfiber cloth or screen-safe cleaner — avoid sprays or harsh chemicals.
8. Control with Your Phone (via Alarm.com)
If your dealer has enabled it, you can use the Alarm.com app to:
- Arm/disarm the panel remotely
- Get real-time notifications
- Control smart locks, lights, and thermostats
- View live video (if cameras are installed)
To Get Started:
