Welcome! Your GC2e security system is designed to be simple, intuitive, and to help keep your home or business safe. This page explains, step by step, how to use all its important features.
Getting to Know Your Panel
Your GC2e has a touchscreen panel at the center of your system. Here’s what you’ll see and use most often:
- Home button light:
- Blue: Ready to arm.
- Red solid: Armed.
- Flashing red: Alarm or entry delay active.
- Color touchscreen:
- Displays time, date, and system status.
- Lets you arm, disarm, and check sensor status.
- Shows important alerts and messages.
- Speaker and microphone:
- Announce system status and sensor activity.
- Enable two-way communication with monitoring center if supported.
How to Arm Your System
Stay Mode
Use this when you’re home and want to protect doors and windows but move around freely inside.
Steps:
- Make sure all perimeter doors and windows are closed.
- On the panel, tap Arm.
- Choose Stay.
- Check Entry Delay if you want to be able to exit briefly (like stepping out to check mail).
- Tap Stay to confirm.
Away Mode
Use this when everyone is leaving. It activates all sensors, including motion detectors.
Steps:
- Close all doors and windows.
- Tap Arm on the panel.
- Choose Away.
- Check Entry Delay if you want time to disarm when you return.
- Tap Away to confirm.
- Leave before the exit delay finishes. You’ll hear beeps counting down.
How to Disarm Your System
When returning home:
- Enter through the designated entry door (this starts your entry delay countdown).
- On the panel, enter your 4-digit user code or press your key fob disarm button.
- If the system beeps rapidly when you enter, this means an alarm occurred while you were away — use caution!
Using User Codes
- Up to 64 codes can be created.
- Give individual codes to family, friends, or service providers.
- You can set codes to work only on certain days or times (for example, for a cleaning service).
To add a code:
- Go to Menu > Toolbox > User Management.
- Enter your master code.
- Tap Add User, then enter and confirm a 4-digit code.
- Set whether the code is always active, never active, or schedule-based.
Duress code:
- One special code silently signals to the monitoring center that you need help (but disarms the system like normal). Only use this if you’re under threat.
Using Emergency Functions
On the main screen, tap Emergency to access three options:
- Panic: Alerts police or security; can be silent or audible.
- Fire: Triggers the fire alarm immediately.
- Emergency: Medical or general emergency alert.
How to activate:
- Tap Emergency.
- Hold the desired button (Panic, Fire, Emergency) for 2 seconds.
You can also use these functions on your key fob or wireless keypad (if set up).
Checking Sensors and Bypassing
Check Sensors
- Before arming, the panel shows which doors or windows are open.
- You can also tap Status to see a full list.
Bypassing Sensors
- Useful if you want to leave a window open but still arm the rest of the system.
- When arming, you’ll be prompted if any sensors are open. You can choose to bypass them.
Manual Bypass:
- Go to Menu > Toolbox > Bypassed Sensors.
- Enter your code.
- Tap to select which sensor(s) to bypass.
Bypassed sensors won’t trigger alarms while bypassed.
Chimes & Voice Alerts
- The system can chime or announce which door or window opens.
- Helpful to know when kids or visitors come in or out.
To adjust:
- Go to Menu > Toolbox > Chime Setup.
- Choose each sensor and set to chime, announce, or both.
Fire, Smoke & Carbon Monoxide Protection
- Fire and CO detectors are always active — even when the system is disarmed.
- If an alarm sounds, leave immediately and call 911 from outside.
- You can also manually trigger a fire alarm from the Emergency screen.
Testing Your System
Regular tests ensure everything works properly.
To start a test:
- Go to Menu > Toolbox > System Test.
- Enter your code.
- Follow prompts to test each sensor.
We recommend testing once per month.
System Alerts & Troubles
- If there’s a problem (like low battery, power loss, or sensor tamper), a yellow alert icon appears.
- Tap the icon to see details.
- Resolve issues quickly to keep your system working.
Reading Messages
The panel receives important messages, such as:
- System updates.
- Weather alerts.
- Service reminders.
When a new message arrives, a message icon appears. Tap it to read.
Panel Maintenance
- Use a dry, soft cloth to clean the touchscreen.
- Activate Screen Cleaning Mode so you don’t accidentally press anything while wiping.
- To enable, go to Menu > Toolbox > Clean Screen.
Need Help?
- Find your installer or dealer contact info on the panel (tap system logo on home screen).
- Use the Call Back button to request service directly.
Final Tips
- Always check doors and windows before arming.
- Practice arming/disarming with family.
- Show everyone in your household how to use emergency buttons.
- Test your system regularly and keep batteries fresh.
