What Is the Alarm.com Doorbell Camera?

The Alarm.com Wi-Fi Doorbell Camera lets you see who’s at your door, speak to visitors, and monitor activity in real time — right from your phone. It’s all connected through the Alarm.com app, and once set up, it works seamlessly with your existing smart security system.

Easy Setup with the Alarm.com App

Setting up your doorbell is simple — here’s how to do it in just minutes using your smartphone.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. Physically install the Doorbell Camera on your doorframe or entry area
  2. Check the LED light — it should be flashing Red/Green, indicating it’s ready to sync
  3. Download and open the Alarm.com app
  4. Navigate to the Doorbell Cameras tab
  5. Tap “Add A Doorbell Camera”
  6. Give your camera a name (e.g., “Front Door”)

Connect to the Doorbell’s Wi-Fi

For iOS Users:

  • Leave the app
  • Open your phone’s Settings → Wi-Fi
  • Connect to SkybellHD_##########

For Android Users:

  • No need to leave the app
  • The Alarm.com app will automatically detect the doorbell’s temporary network

Once connected, return to the app to proceed.

Select Your Home Wi-Fi

  • After temporary connection is successful, you’ll choose your home Wi-Fi network
  • Enter your Wi-Fi password when prompted
  • The app will complete syncing

Understanding LED Colors (Sync Progress)

During syncing, the LED ring will display the following:

Light Pattern What It Means
Double-Flash Orange Connecting to Wi-Fi (~30 seconds)
Alternating Blue/Green Syncing with Alarm.com (~30 seconds)
Solid Green Setup complete and fully connected

If the LED gets stuck on double-flash orange, it means Wi-Fi credentials were entered incorrectly — try again with the correct password.

Everyday User Features

Once connected, here’s what you can do using the Alarm.com app:
Live View

  • See your front door in real time
  • Works day or night with infrared video

Two-Way Audio

  • Tap “Talk” to speak directly to your visitor
  • Hear responses instantly

Motion & Ring Alerts

  • Get notified when someone approaches
  • You don’t need them to ring the bell — motion sensing will alert you

Cloud Storage (if enabled)

  • View recent clips
  • Save important video
  • Download and share when needed

Tip: Use It Every Day

  • Add Shared Users so family members can also answer the door
  • Set up motion zones to reduce false alerts from sidewalks or streets
  • Use the Event History tab to revisit missed visitors
  • Works perfectly with other Alarm.com smart home features (lights, locks, security)
