Battery Replacement – Step-by-Step
You’ll typically replace your batteries once a year, or whenever the keypad becomes unresponsive, slow, or starts flashing red. Here’s how to do it safely and easily.
What You’ll Need:
- 4 new AA non-rechargeable alkaline batteries
- No tools required
Steps to Replace the Batteries:
- Remove the battery cover
Slide the cover up from the back side of the lock (interior side of the door). - Remove the battery pack
Lift the entire battery holder straight out of the lock. - Dispose of old batteries
Use a recycling container or follow local guidelines for safe disposal. - Install four new AA batteries
Insert them into the battery pack — match the +/– symbols for proper polarity.
Do not use lithium or rechargeable batteries — alkaline only. - Reinsert the battery pack
Slide it back into the lock housing until it fits snugly. - Replace the battery cover
Slide it back down over the lock until it clicks into place.
Tips for Best Results:
- Replace all 4 batteries at the same time
- Keep a spare pack of AAs nearby for future use
- Test your lock right after changing batteries to confirm everything works
- Clean the battery compartment gently if there’s any corrosion or dust
