Smoke Detector

Product Overview

These smoke/heat detectors are connected to the alarm panel and use photoelectric technology to intelligently sense a fire before it is too late. While the heat detector uses both fixed temperature and rate-of-rise technologies to detect a fire.

 1. 2GIG FireFighter (FF‑345 / FF1e‑345)

The 2GIG FireFighter is an audio listener and transmitter rather than a traditional smoke detector. It works by detecting the UL‑required Temporal‑3 (smoke) and Temporal‑4 (carbon monoxide) alarm tones from your existing UL‑listed smoke or CO alarms and then transmits a signal to a compatible control panel. Because it does not sense smoke directly, it relies entirely on your current detectors for initial detection.

The device should be installed within six inches of a primary alarm. In interconnected wired systems, a single FireFighter can monitor all detectors, making it a cost‑effective option for adding monitoring without replacing your entire system. It is compatible with 2GIG security panels and Honeywell 345 MHz panels and does not interfere with UL or local fire certification. Powered by a CR123A battery, it typically lasts four to five years before needing replacement.

Key Benefits:

  • Monitors existing UL‑listed smoke and CO alarms
  • Easy wireless installation, no rewiring needed
  • Compatible with 2GIG and Honeywell panels
  • Battery lasts 4–5 years

2. 2GIG SMKT8‑345 / SMKT8e‑345 Smoke Heat Freeze Detector

The 2GIG SMKT8‑345 is a self‑contained wireless sensor that provides three‑in‑one protection: photoelectric smoke detection, heat detection (including rate‑of‑rise), and low‑temperature freeze alerts. It is UL 217 and UL 268 certified, meeting 2020 safety standards. Its intelligent detection algorithms are designed to reduce nuisance alarms from minor cooking smoke while quickly recognizing fires involving synthetic materials.

This detector includes a built‑in 85 dB sounder and automatically reports to the security panel if temperatures drop below approximately 40°F. It is battery powered, using two CR123A batteries with an expected life of around ten years. The standard model works with 2GIG control panels, while the “e” version offers encrypted communication for GC2e and GC3e panels.

Key Benefits:

  • 3‑in‑1: smoke, heat, and freeze detection
  • Built‑in 85 dB alarm with panel alerts
  • 10‑year battery life and wireless design
  • Encrypted option for e‑Series panels

3. Qolsys IQ Smoke Detector (QS5110‑840)

The Qolsys IQ Smoke Detector is a compact wireless sensor that combines photoelectric smoke detection with heat detection for reliable fire protection. It communicates via 319.5 MHz RF and is designed to work seamlessly with Qolsys IQ Panels, as well as compatible GE/Interlogix receiver systems.

This sensor provides continuous “always‑on” monitoring and includes a heat sensor that triggers during rapid temperature increases even before visible smoke appears. Users appreciate its straightforward installation, strong reliability, and built‑in safety features. The device comes with an integrated siren, visual status indicators, and is UL 217 listed. Its typical battery life ranges from three to five years, depending on usage and environment.

Key Benefits:

  • Wireless smoke and heat detection
  • Compact design with built‑in siren and LEDs
  • Works with Qolsys IQ Panels and Interlogix systems
  • 3–5 year battery life
