ADC + Google Home Support

With Alarm.com and Google Home, you can control your smart home using simple voice commands. Whether you want to adjust your thermostat, lock your door, or check the garage, all it takes is your voice.

This guide outlines the most important features and teaches you how to get started in just minutes.

Set Up in 2 Easy Steps

1. Enable the Alarm.com Action

Say:
“OK Google, talk to Alarm.com.”
Google Assistant will prompt you to enable the Alarm.com Action.

2. Sync Your Alarm.com Account

  • Open the Google Home app
  • Enter your Alarm.com username and password
  • Your account is now linked and ready to accept commands

Make sure your Alarm.com account has smart home and voice integration permissions from your provider.

Everyday Voice Commands You Can Use

Once set up, just say:
“OK Google, ask Alarm.com…”

Here are some popular examples:

Command What It Does
“…to turn on the lights” Activates connected smart lights
“…to lock the front door” Secures your smart lock
“…what is the temperature in the living room?” Checks the thermostat
“…is my garage door open?” Reports garage door status
“…to arm my system” Arms your security system in Away or Stay mode

Tip: Want to say multiple commands in one go?

Just start with “OK Google, talk to Alarm.com,” and then give a series of commands — no need to say “ask Alarm.com…” before each one.

What Google CANNOT Do (for Your Safety)

Due to security restrictions, Google Assistant cannot:

  • Disarm your system
  • Unlock your doors
  • Open your garage door

These actions require manual input for your protection.

Need to Reconnect?

If you’re having trouble:

  • Reopen the Google Home app
  • Disconnect the Alarm.com Action
  • Re-enable and sign in again
  • Ensure your Alarm.com login credentials are correct
