The 2GIG EDGE™ Remote Keypad is like having a second touchscreen control panel anywhere in your home. Whether you’re at the front door, hallway, or bedroom, this guide will walk you through how to use its key features with ease.

1. How to Arm and Disarm Your System

The keypad lets you activate or deactivate your security system with just a few taps — or even hands-free with facial recognition.

Arm Stay — When You’re Home

Use this when people are home and you want to secure doors and windows without activating motion detectors inside.

To Arm Stay:

  1. Tap the screen to wake it up.
  2. Press the “Arm Stay” icon on the main screen.
  3. Enter your 4-digit code, or use facial recognition if enrolled.
  4. The panel will speak or display “Armed Stay”.

Example: Use this at night when everyone’s inside.

Arm Away — When Leaving the House

This mode activates all sensors, including motion detectors. Use it when no one will be home.

To Arm Away:

  1. Tap the “Arm Away” icon.
  2. Enter your code or allow facial recognition to verify you.
  3. A countdown timer begins — exit the house before it ends.
  4. The system will say “Armed Away”.

Great when going to work, running errands, or traveling.

Disarm — When Coming Back

Turn off the system when you return home to avoid false alarms.

Two ways to Disarm:

Method 1: Code Entry

  1. Tap the screen.
  2. Tap “Disarm”.
  3. Enter your 4-digit user code.

Method 2: Facial Recognition

  1. Stand in front of the keypad.
  2. Look directly at the screen.
  3. If recognized, the system disarms automatically and says “Welcome back”.

Tip: Keep the keypad at face height and well-lit for faster recognition.

2. How to Use Facial Recognition

Facial recognition allows hands-free disarming and quick identification. Setup is done on the main panel, but once configured, the keypad uses the camera to identify users.

To Set Up (from Main Panel):

  1. Tap Settings > enter Master Code.
  2. Select Users.
  3. Choose your name or tap Add User.
  4. Tap Add Facial Recognition.
  5. Follow prompts to align your face and take photos.

How to Use:

  • When you walk up to the keypad, it scans your face.
  • If it matches your profile, the panel automatically disarms or grants access (based on settings).

Make sure you’re 2–3 feet away, and avoid sunglasses or hats during scans.

3. How to Add or Manage Users

Each person should have their own PIN code and optionally facial recognition for accountability and ease of access.

To Add a New User (main panel only):

  1. Tap Settings > enter the Master Code.
  2. Tap Users > Add New User.
  3. Enter:
    • Name
    • 4-digit code
    • Access level (normal, limited, etc.)
    • Facial recognition setup (optional)
  4. Save the user.

You can delete or edit codes anytime — perfect for guests or temporary workers.

4. How to Read Alerts, Alarms & Messages

The keypad keeps you informed with visual and audible cues.

What You’ll See:

  • Bell icon at the top = unread alerts or messages.
  • Alarm = A sensor was triggered (e.g. door opened while armed).
  • Alert = Low battery, sensor offline, or tamper warning.
  • Message = Note from your provider or system updates.

To View Alerts:

  1. Tap the bell icon on the top bar.
  2. Select one of the tabs:
    • Alarms
    • Alerts
    • Messages
  3. Tap a message to view more details.

Some messages (like provider notes) may require your master code.

5. How to Use Emergency Buttons

Your keypad can alert emergency services right from the home screen.

Types of Emergencies:

  • Police – Silent or audible panic alarm.
  • Fire – Activates fire alert even without a detector.
  • Medical – Sends a medical emergency signal.

To Activate an Emergency Alert:

  1. Tap the red “Emergency” button.
  2. Choose the type of help needed.
  3. Press and hold the icon for 2 seconds.

The system immediately sends a signal to your monitoring service (if enabled).

6. How to Pair the Keypad to Your Main Panel

This is usually done by your installer, but you can re-pair or replace a keypad yourself.

To Pair the Keypad:

  1. Power on the keypad.
  2. On the main panel:
    • Tap Installer Toolbox > Panel Programming > Keypads.
  3. Choose an unused keypad slot (e.g., Keypad #2).
  4. Set it to Enabled, then tap Pair Keypad.
  5. Follow prompts on both screens until you see the Home screen on the keypad.

Be sure the keypad is connected to the same Wi-Fi or within signal range.

7. How to Clean the Screen Safely

Fingerprints happen! Here’s how to clean the touchscreen:

Steps:

  1. Tap Settings > Clean Screen.
  2. The screen locks for 30 seconds.
  3. Wipe with a soft microfiber cloth.
  4. Avoid sprays or liquids directly on the panel.

Use only screen-safe cleaners. Never spray directly onto the keypad.

Helpful Everyday Tips

  • Practice arming/disarming a few times while disarmed to build confidence.
  • Give each user their own code — easier to track activity.
  • Check the bell icon weekly to review any alerts or updates.
  • Place keypads near key entry points (e.g., garage, hallway, master bedroom).

Call your provider if facial recognition isn’t working well — lighting or camera angle may need adjusting.
